Pinked
As many times as I have seen tv shows showing a red sock with the white laundry turning everything pink, I never believed it. Not really. I guess it makes sense if the sock is new. Maybe because I almost always use bleach so would more likely ruin the sock. However, today I threw Vanessa's pink blanket in the wash. Note it's only been washed twice since I dyed it pink again. Then I threw in the other light clothes of hers. The load was small so I threw in all the whites, now pinks. It really happens. My boys have pink socks and undies and Derek has a few pink shirts. I'll have to see if it bleaches out. At first it was very subtle and I couldn't quite tell for sure. I was lying them on a maroon washer but once I threw them up against actual white socks it was apparent. But it isn't my fault. I do stranger things when my brain is surrounded by 5 two year olds and a few older kids. Like today when I cut the crust off of my sandwich.
I get it
When we, or should I say my dad, was building our house I couldn't figure out why so many people say that building a house was very stressful. Some of our decisions were already made for us, location & floor plan. So I got to do the fun stuff, carpet, cabinets, doors, paint color. I did have a budget so it wasn't like I could go all out and get whatever. My opinion at the time was that whatever we get is better than what we had and more than we deserve. Derek didn't care a whole lot about any of it so I didn't have to persway or argue who's idea was better. During most of the construction we figured we were only going to live there for 2 years then sell. Now we have lived her 1 year and have no intention of ever selling. But now I get it. I get what should have been stressed more. Now I know if I were to build again what I would change. Not to say I don't appreciate what I have but I wish I had put more thought into a few of the decisions. Mostly the lighting in the family room, the tile back splash, where some of the tv and internet lines ran. I would have taken an extra day or two leveling the yard before we covered it with sod. Overall, it's still better than anything we've had.
