I get it
When we, or should I say my dad, was building our house I couldn't figure out why so many people say that building a house was very stressful. Some of our decisions were already made for us, location & floor plan. So I got to do the fun stuff, carpet, cabinets, doors, paint color. I did have a budget so it wasn't like I could go all out and get whatever. My opinion at the time was that whatever we get is better than what we had and more than we deserve. Derek didn't care a whole lot about any of it so I didn't have to persway or argue who's idea was better. During most of the construction we figured we were only going to live there for 2 years then sell. Now we have lived her 1 year and have no intention of ever selling. But now I get it. I get what should have been stressed more. Now I know if I were to build again what I would change. Not to say I don't appreciate what I have but I wish I had put more thought into a few of the decisions. Mostly the lighting in the family room, the tile back splash, where some of the tv and internet lines ran. I would have taken an extra day or two leveling the yard before we covered it with sod. Overall, it's still better than anything we've had.
